TALK: HAS SOCIAL KILLED THE VIDEO STAR?

EXECUTIVE CREATIVE DIRECTOR

ODD | LONDON

As our tech-obsessed world continues to embrace social media, never before have we been able to create, share, engage and comment on filmic content so easily and instantaneously.

With over 400 hours of film uploaded to YouTube every minute and 80 million images to Instagram per day, it's no surprise that the landscape and craft of film is being opened up to the masses.

A global community of amateur players are now firmly at the table,

using new platforms and technology to shape their output.

Short-form content has found a natural home in the cloud and 'paid-for social' now means notoriety can be bought, rather than earnt through craft, skill and quality.

We are however a generation of change, and only when technology levels out, will creativity shake off it's current commodity status and rule once more.
