ThrowbackThursday: Vogue Italia's Fashion Film Selection

Vogue Italia is the Italian edition of Vogue magazine. Owned by Condénast International, it is the least commercial of all editions of Vogue magazine and has been called the top fashion magazine in the world. A BFFF family member right from the first edition, here's a small fashion film selection for today's ThrowbackThursday.

LADY

Paparazzi-Set in the 1950s, an intimate interview ensues for the latest film
project directed by Luca Finotti for Vogue Italia. The film stars Laura Catterall as
the "Lady,” who keeps a chic and poised composure while answering questions
by the media played by actors. Beautiful in a simple black slip and crystal
necklace, Laura responds with witty banter and an infectious charm for a
nostalgic snapshot into the stunning 50s.

Nowness series: ON COLLABORATION

Since they met in 1995, Vogue Italia Editor-in-Chief Franca Sozzani and British
photographer Miles Aldridge have been creating vivid, surreal set-pieces for the
most experimental and provocative of the magazine’s editions. The ongoing
alliance between these two fashion creatives is explored in “Vision,” the first
episode of a new series exploring the concept of collaboration. It’s directed by
NOWNESS regular Johnnie Shand Kydd in association with EDITION Hotels.

FACE THE FUTURE

Steven Meisel has collaborated with Canadian filmmaker Gordon Von Steiner to
capture this behind the scenes fashion film of Meisel’s September Vogue Italia
shoot “Face The Future”. The shoot, an inside look at women’s psychological
search for meaning in 21st century life, features Carolyn Murphy as a somewhat
elegant, plasticized lost soul, hiding her past beneath the season’s latest fashions.
