An Interview with Producer and BFFF2015 Winner of Best Local Production for the Film 'SOPOPULAR A/W 14-15 X'
We'd like to know more about 'SOPOPULAR A/W 14-15 X', WINNER of Best Local Production. What was the biggest challenge in producing this film ?
The challenge was ensuring the weather was good! No, we all worked so well together contributing to ensuring every aspect was covered - Working together with SOPOPULAR, Kaltblut and all people involved was a challenge in coordinating everybody's schedules.
Tatjana our Director was based in Cape Town during the pre-production and at times it was frustrating not being able to take her to the locations until she arrived to Berlin.
"Over the years I have been fortunate to attend the festival on numerous occasions and have met some amazing film makers from across the globe, which is something far more rewarding than an award."
In your previous works, what was your best success ? And your biggest screw up ?
Naturally being selected to attend festivals or being finalists in various competitions is a suggestion that the work has been a success - but for me the success has been building on relationships across the various projects and completing films
which one can be proud to say "I was involved in that film". Ultimately, wrapping a shoot and everything went smoothly is my gauge for success. Screw-up well that is something I think we need a drink for!
What do you think makes a good fashion film ?
Film making starts with a good story - so ultimately for a great Fashion Film one needs a good story.
In order to deliver images which one can relate to there needs to be a story behind it.
In your opinion, what is the biggest challenge for the industry ?
The current challenge is adapting to new technology and trends
- being able to deliver the right quality film for the right environment.
What would you say makes BfFF special?
Well I moved to Berlin when the first festival took place and have been since then - Naturally winning the Best Local Production award was the cherry on top. Over the years I have been fortunate
to attend the festival on numerous occasions and have met some amazing film makers from across the globe, which is something far more rewarding than an award.
